- Q
Why didn't you include the [insert video name here] video on these DVDs?
- A
Well, as you probably noticed, there are LOTS of great videos about Ron Paul. But, to try to stay as neutral as possible,
we decided we should probably just include direct clips of Ron Paul himself; speeches, lectures, debates, interviews, etc.
There have been several suggestions on videos to include, but we felt that it's probably best just to let Dr. Paul do what
he does best, instead of trying to make "the perfect DVD". To try and please everyone is a sure road to failure.
- Q
You've burned and printed over [insert current count here] DVDs?!? Whoa!
- A
We started out with one DVD duplicator, and one disc printer. Then moved to 3 duplicators and 9 printers. Then quickly
realized, after hitting the 8,000 disc mark, that we were really falling behind on orders, and the project was taking over
our lives. So, we switched from manually duplicating the DVDs, to having them replicated through a service out of
California. The discs now being distributed are professionally pressed and silk-screened (printed) just like commercial DVDs
you'd buy in the store. Replication, however, requires that they be purchased in large quantities, in order to keep
the price reasonable. This move allowed us to return to almost-normal life again. ;-)
- Q
Why is DISC 1 sort of boring looking? Why didn't you use the full-color photo of Ron on it, too?
- A
The first disc was created several months ago, when we didn't know how big this project might get. Time was limited, and we
just wanted to get something that looked decent. We figured something simple, that wouldn't take a lot of ink in the
printers we were using would be good. But, since switching to the replication service, almost exclusively, it allowed for a
bit more creativity (at the same cost). So, hoping to entice the receiver into watching the DVD, after receiving it,
we opted for a full-color photo of Ron. Most likely, when the current stock of DISC 1 is gone, we'll revamp the disc design
to look like DISC 2 (including the menu system on the disc).
- Q
I have a DVD, too. Will you put it on the your website, and help distribute it for me?
- A
We'd seriously love to help, but we still have some difficulty keeping up with orders as it is. :-\ One idea we've had,
however, is setting up another simple website under the www.RonPaulDVDs.com domain; to include
a central list of other DVDs available out there. We've not seen any other DVDs being distributed on the same level, but realize
that there are others available for download. Perhaps it would be a good resource to list them all in one place. So, stay tuned.
We'll work it in, if time will allow.
- Q
I have a totally awesome set of Ron Paul videos that I just love! Can you make custom DVDs for me to give out?
- A
Well, everyone has their favorites; even us. But, to create a DVD isn't always a simple process (for us, at least). It can be
very time consuming. If you have the funds, and a large target audience, give us a call. It may be worth the extra effort.
But if it's just for you and your family, we'd have to respectfully decline. There just isn't time in the day.
- Q
There are other Ron Paul DVDs out there that are better than yours. Why don't you just distribute them instead?
- A
There probably are. But, we couldn't find any with the same goal: to catch people up with what's already been reported on Ron Paul.
Many wonderful fans of Ron Paul have created some really great video-compilations; containing catchy background music, or flashing
images, etc. While those are great for some audiences, they're very unappealing to others. Personally, I don't like someone/thing
trying to impress me, or convince me of something. I like to hear it right from the horses mouth. Which is why we opted to create
and distribute DVDs containing video clips and direct coverage of the good doctor, himself.
- Q
Why are your discs so expensive? I can buy blank DVDs discs for $0.XX each, and burn my own!
- A
Yes, duplicated discs can be cheaper than replicated DVDs. The discs we're distributing, however, come with additional value.
They have been professionally "pressed", just like retail DVDs you would buy in a store. They look very professional. They come
sleeved, and ready to hand out, and give the message a bit more legitimacy than just a hand-written, burned disc. We feel it's important
that Ron look the part too. (Unfortunately, to some people, presentation is very important. ;-)
That said, however, we would never discourage anyone from burning their own copies. In fact, that's why we've even posted downloadable
images of the DVDs... for absolutely free. Burn all you want! Ron Paul needs all the support we can give him.
(As a side note, "burned" discs are not guaranteed to play in 100% of the DVD players out there. Replicated DVDs are.)
- Q
Can I get my Ron Paul related website listed under the Links section?
- A
Sure, not a problem. Just e-mail us.
- Q
I need a thousand DVDs, like, by tomorrow! Can it be done?
- A
Where there's a will, there's a way! Though, you'll need to let us know before 1pm MST. And, if you want more than one DVD
overnighted, we'll need to pull out our calculators to figure out what the exact cost would be. Best thing to do is just call us.
- Q
Uh, the phone number on the face of DISC 1 rings his Congressional Campaign Office, not the Presidential Campaign Office.
- A
Yeah, bummer on our part. :-\ Some kind soul a few weeks ago e-mailed and mentioned it, fortunately before DISC 2 went to print!
We'll get it fixed on the next go-round.
- Q
What do you mean, I don't have to have a PayPal account? Your 'Add to Cart' buttons take me right to PayPal.
- A
Yes, that is true. Though if you don't have an account with PayPal, or prefer not to use your PayPal account, there is a small
blue "Continue" link, at the lower-left of the Checkout page, under the "Don't have a PayPal account?" heading, that allows you to
send your debit or credit card through PayPal.
- Q
Can I send a check or money order, or even cash, to pay for some DVDs?
- A
Certainly. Our mailing address is under the Contact section. We'll try to get your discs shipped as
soon as your payment arrives.
- Q
So, what happens if Ron doesn't win the Primary/General election, and your stuck with thousands of DVDs?
- A
Well, that's a risk we're willing to carry, to do our part supporting the cause. Though, let's be positive. Ron Paul IS going to win!
- Q
How do I save videos from YouTube, and other sites on the Internet?
- A
There are a number of different tricks. SaveTube.com can be quite a helpful site.
But, I must admit, the most helpful tool/application I've come across has been URL Helper.
- Q
What software are you using to create these DVDs?
- A
Since most video on the Internet anymore is Flash based, Total Video Converter is used
to convert the files to a more compatible format. Adobe Premiere Elements
(3.0) is the main application used for DVD organization, video editing, and creation. Though, Adobe Photoshop is used once in a while to touch up
images, or create other necessary graphics. Nero Burning ROM is used to actually burn/create the Master DVD discs (and/or ISO files).
- Q
How in the world did you fit over 5 1/2 hours on a single DVD?!
- A
Within Adobe Premiere Elements you can adjust the amount of compression necessary to fit a specific amount of video on a DVD disc. I'm not
sure if much more than 5 1/2 hours could be fit on a single DVD5 disc.
- Q
Aren't you worried about copyright laws, etc?
- A
Not really. All the clips included on the DVDs are freely available for anyone to watch over the Internet. We do not not claim
ownership to any of the content. We just want to get it viewed by as many as possible. Besides, if Fox News (or other media outlets)
didn't want you to watch the debates, or interviews of Ron Paul, they wouldn't air them. ;-)
- Q
What can I do to help?
- A
Unfortunately, as far as our work-load is concerned, not much. If you lived near us, we'd gladly get you some discs to sleeve.
Fortunately, our family has been very eager to help, as well. But, what you can do is help spread the word more effectively, by
ordering as many discs as you think you can distribute. Then, hit the streets, and get them out there! We are simply trying to
supply the troops (you) with ammo (truth). Keep at it! We can make a difference!
- Q
Can I get some DVDs for free?
- A
Well, nothing in life is really "free". There is always a cost, and someone always pays it. That said, if you can't
afford $2.00 for a disc, we'd be happy to send you one. Honestly, if we were independently wealthy, we'd order 100,000 discs, and give
them ALL away for free. (Man, wouldn't that would be awesome! - If you have any rich friends that also happen to be big Ron Paul
fans, have them give me a call. ;-)
- Q
I don't like using PayPal, or making payments online. Isn't there any other way I can pay you with a debit or credit card?
- A
If you just can't stand using PayPal (as some can't), or deal with the thought of your credit card information turning into a string of 1's and 0's...
I do have a full merchant account that I can use to accept payments via debit or credit card. Just contact me.
- Q
Do you use your customer's e-mail accounts to send out spam?
- A
Heck no! Spam sux. I wouldn't wish more spam on anyone. (Ok, ok... there are a few who I'd probably wish it on, but they aren't Ron Paul
supporters). Occasionally we may send out announcements to those who have purchased discs, informing them about something new on the site, or
related to the DVDs. Or, we may send out an e-mail now and then related to Ron Paul (such as a notice about
November 5th, etc. But, never anything else.
- Q
Why can't I use Internet Explorer to download the ISO file for the DVD?
- A
I'm baffled too. I've had a few people e-mail with ideas, and after some research it appears to be a limitation of Internet Explorer. For some reason,
files over 4 GB in size aren't downloadable by IE (?). It may also have something to do using IIS to serve the file, as well.
